Continuing Education: Updates & Reminders

We are in the final weeks of the current 3 year CEU cycle.  Those who were SCCC Certified at the beginning of the current CEU Cycle (August 1, 2016) are responsible for completing 45 CEUs by July 31, 2019.  The CEUs are prorated for those who became SCCC Certified during the current CEU Cycle (responsible for either 30 ,15 or 0 CEUs).

All SCCC Certified individuals are encouraged to stay on top of fulfilling their CEU Requirements so that the CSCCa National Office does not experience a backlog in recording all submitted CEU Requirements and so that SCCC Certificants do not become overwhelmed in the last few weeks of the CEU cycle in trying to complete their missing CEU Requirements. Below is some important information regarding CEU Requirements:

CEU Reports:

All SCCC Certificants should have received an updated CEU report at the beginning of July. Obtaining CEUs: Please submit all CEU inquires to

  • Have you attended any conferences, clinics or events or completed any courses since August 1, 2016?
    • Be sure to submit a course or event itinerary as well as verification of attendance/completion ASAP and we can determine whether it is eligible for CSCCa CEUs!
  • Need an alternative option to obtain those missing CEUs?
    • The Gatorade Sports Science Institute is a great resource for obtaining CEUs! These courses are FREE, you get 1.0 CSCCa CEU for each one you complete and you can do up to 20 of these in a 3 year CEU Cycle!
  • Other resources for obtaining CEUs

Updated CPR/AED/First Aid Certification:

SCCC Certificants must submit a CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification card that will be current on July 31, 2019.  We recommend going through the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or the National Safety Council. Certifications completed solely online will not be accepted. Those SCCC Certified individuals who do not have valid CPR/AED and/or First Aid Certification that will be current on July 31, 2019 should have received an email from the CSCCa National Office notifying you that you need to submit current certification.

CSCCa Code of Conduct:

During the Summer of 2017 members of the CSCCa Certification Commission formed a committee to create a CSCCa Code of Conduct. Thanks to their hard work and diligence, we now have a list of standards of conduct that we ask all CSCCa members, SCCC certified individuals, and SCCC candidates to abide by. SCCC certified individuals will need to submit a signed copy of the Code of Conduct acknowledging adherence by July 31, 2019.  You can find the Code of Conduct here. Please sign this document and email it to the CSCCa National office at, or fax to 801-375-9401.

CREP Registry Information

The Coalition for the Registration of Exercise Professionals (CREP)—a third-party non-profit corporation composed of organizations that offer NCCA-accredited exercise certificationsmaintains the United States Registry of Exercise Professionals (USREPS), an internationally recognized registry of exercise professionals in the US holding NCCA-accredited exercise certification. This Registry will provide a quick, easy, and reliable method of verifying your SCCC credential. This information has been sent to all athletic directors within the NCAA, as well as to all SCCC certified individuals.

Please be aware that with the end of the current CEU cycle, all SCCC certificants will be cleared from the Registry as of 11:59 p.m., July 31, 2019. In order to ensure that you are listed on the Registry August 1, it will be necessary for you to complete and submit all CEU requirements to the CSCCa National Office by Friday, July 19.

This is assuming that your request for CEUs does not require the CSCCa Education Board’s approval as this could require additional time to process.

The CSCCa will be sending in weekly reports to CREP during the month of July to help keep the Registry up to date, as there is a 5-business-day-turnaround.
