Jim Zielinski and Emily Schilling
The University of Illinois has announced promotions of Veteran and Master Strength (2002) Coach Jim Zielinski to Associate Athletic Director for Olympic Sports Strength & Conditioning and Assistant Strength Coach Emily Schilling to Associate Strength & Conditioning Coach. Zielinski has been with the Illinois Department of Intercollegiate Athletics since June of 1999 serving as the Athletics Department Head Strength Coach. Zielinski started his career as a student assistant at Northern Illinois (1984-88). He has also had stints at the University of Nebraska (1988-89) under Boyd Epley, Head Strength Coach at Northern Illinois (1989-95), Oregon State (95-99) and currently at the University of Illinois (1999-present). Zielinski is certified by the CSCCa (2001) and NSCA (1987).
Emily Schilling has been with the Illinois Department of Intercollegiate Athletics since being hired as an Assistant Strength Coach in September of 2016. Emily currently oversees all aspects of the performance development for the Women’s Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Golf programs. Emily started her career at the University of Northern Colorado as a volunteer assistant (2010-13). She also had stints as an Assistant Strength Coach at Villanova university (2013-14) and Hofstra University 2014-16. Schilling holds certifications from the CSCCa, NSCA, RSCC, TPI-Level 3 and Lee Taft Athletic Consulting certification program.
