Due to the situation created by COVID-19, we were forced to cancel the 2020 CSCCa National Conference which was to be held in Orlando, Florida, May 6-8. The health & safety of our coaches & exhibitors is our top priority. We understand that everyone will have questions regarding how this will impact the Spring 2020 SCCC certification exam, and we are here to answer them as best as we can. Please see the information below for more information on each part of the SCCC Certification Exam.
We know that many of you are disappointed that you will not be able to participate in the practical exam in May and that some of you may have jobs depending on you receiving the SCCC certification. Please know we are looking at alternative options for offering the practical exam. We will keep you informed as updates become available.
Here is an update from PSI regarding their test sites:
“PSI has been very focused on the re-opening of test sites on May 1st. Test sites will be opened where city, state, and county jurisdictions will allow. We are receiving questions regarding our procedures to ensure employee and candidate’s safety as we re-open. To assist in answering these questions, PSI has created a frequently asked questions document which can be found at https://www.psionline.com/wp-content/uploads/psi-services-covid-19-faqs.pdf.”
The testing window for the written portion of the SCCC Certification Exam has been extended and will now close on June 30th. You are able to reschedule your exam up to the day of your exam with no penalty, and PSI recommends that you reschedule it online. You can contact their call center but may experience extended wait times to speak with an employee.
We know that this is an uncertain and difficult time for everyone. Consequently, if you cannot take the written portion or the practical portion of the exam and need to cancel, please let me know. We are able to roll all payments over to the 2021 exam, or we can refund you the exam fee.
Important Notes for Mentors:
- All CSCCa-approved mentors must utilize the updated Proper Exercise Techniques page on the CSCCa website during CSCCa-approved practicum/internships to ensure that SCCC candidates are properly prepared for the practical exam. Any questions or concerns should be addressed to the CSCCa National Office.
- If you have changed schools or institutions since becoming an approved mentor, please email the National Office with this information to verify that you are still eligible to be a CSCCa Approved Mentor. More information regarding which job titles/positions are eligible to serve as CSCCa Approved Mentors is provided on the CSCCa website. It is extremely important that we keep the list of CSCCa Approved Mentors up-to-date to provide accurate information for those individuals searching for an approved internship.
- If you would like a copy of the most recent version of the CSCCa Mentoring Booklet (Updated Fall 2018), please contact the CSCCa National Office and provide an updated mailing address.
- If you will have interns who are going to sit for the Spring 2021 SCCC Certification Exam who need forms (i.e., Practicum Waiver, Internship Completion Verification Form), please email the CSCCa National Office at firstname.lastname@example.org , and we will provide you with a PDF copy of the forms. Please be aware that these forms are also available in your Mentoring Booklet. You are encouraged to make copies as the mentoring booklets are to be used for multiple candidates.
Any questions regarding any of these changes or updates should be directed to 801.375.9400 or email@example.com.
