I sincerely hope everyone is doing well as we enter the summer season. Everyone is working to determine if, when, and how athletes will return to their academic institutions in preparation for the fall athletic competitive season. This will vary from state to state and from institution to institution.
The CSCCa National Office has sent information to all CSCCa members, the NCAA, athletic directors, and conference commissioners about the importance of utilizing the CSCCa and NSCA Joint Consensus Document: Safe Return to Training following Periods of Inactivity as the basis for the design and implementation of all strength and conditioning programs as athletes return to training. Following the 50/30/20/10 and F.I.T. Rules will ensure the health and safety of your athletes during this important transition period.
In addition, the CSCCa participated in a multi-organizational project spearheaded by the Korey Stringer Institution (KSI) to bring together into one document the recommendations from a variety of organizations dealing with the safe return of athletes to their athletic programs following the long break due to COVID-19. This document is a great resource with a wealth of practical and valuable information and is posted to the CSCCa website for your convenience. The CSCCa’s contribution focused on the importance of the CSCCa and NSCA Joint Consensus Document and the two protocols. You are encouraged to review this document, as well as the full Joint Document as you plan for the safe return of athletes to your program. The health and safety of your athletes is your top priority!
We were extremely disappointed and saddened that the 2020 CSCCa National Conference had to be cancelled due to COVID-19, but we are already planning the 2021 National Conference and will include ALL the 20th anniversary celebration activities, gifts, and festivities and adding even more! We will also have outstanding speakers so you won’t want to miss this historic event. Plan NOW to attend—Fort Worth, Texas, May 5-7!
Due to all the exciting events we have planned, Wednesday activities will start earlier than usual—noon rather than 2:00 p.m. So you will want to schedule your travel arrangements to allow you to arrive on Tuesday or early Wednesday morning to make sure you are able to enjoy ALL the national conference has to offer! More details to come in the near future.
Next month you will be receiving the CSCCa 20th Anniversary Magazine by mail from Three Cycle Media. Be sure to check out all the information provided in the magazine, including information about the organization’s historical development, the 2020 Class of MSCC Inductees, and important sponsor and exhibitor contact and product information.
This issue of CSCCa Monthly also includes the digital copy of the 2020 CSCCa Exhibitor Directory for your convenience and reference. Be sure to retain access to it throughout the rest of the year as you search for products and services for your program. The CSCCa 2020 Anniversary Edition and Membership Directory will be mailed to you the first week in July so be sure to update your CSCCa account with your current mailing address by June 30 to ensure you receive it.
Best wishes from the CSCCa National Office as you kick off the summer months and hopefully return to in-person training of your athletes.
