This month’s letter comes to you from the CSCCa Board of Directors and Executive Team members, Sandy Abney and Al Johnson. Our hopes are that you had a great Thanksgiving and a successful November. This time of year, brings about lots of transition and we are all looking forward to a great and prosperous December!
We have an announcement to make. There has been a change in one of the leadership positions. Scott Bennett will no longer be the CEO. He is moving forward to new opportunities, and we wish him nothing but the best. He has served this organization in several different positions and we are very thankful for all of his service. It is important for you to know the Board of Directors has a process in place that will continue to move the CSCCa forward during this time. The other members of the executive team along with the board will be taking on all the responsibilities of the CEO as we begin the competitive search for our next CEO.
It is with heavy hearts that we make everyone aware of the passing of Coach Keith Vinci, Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance at UMass Lowell, who ended his fight with cancer on Nov. 17, 2022. Keith is a 2023 MSCC inductee who will be honored at the 2023 CSCCa National Conference. Coach Vinci’s staff presented him with his MSCC jacket and MSCC certificate while surrounded by family and friends. We know the impact and influence of Keith’s life will continue to live on in all the lives he touched.
We want everyone to know that the mission and purpose of this organization is to come alongside and be part of the journey that each member travels. We want you to know that each of you matter to us and your importance to this organization and your universities is immeasurable.

We are working to grow and develop the organization to provide greater opportunities for our membership. We are excited to announce our website will be getting a complete makeover! Our new website will be easier to navigate, find helpful information, and locate important dates and deadlines. Additionally, we are working to improve our social media engagement and you will see its impact in the coming months.
Some of the great feedback we got from our 2022 Oklahoma City National Conference is that you – the membership – wanted more hands-on sessions provided at the conference. You spoke and we listened. We will now have three one-hour presentations in the exhibit hall next year in Orlando. These sessions will be interactive with coaches having an opportunity to participate in the presentations.
We will be bringing back for the 2nd year, Conversation w/ the Masters. This year we will increase the promotion and marketing along with our sponsors and exhibitors of this event. Conversation w/ the Masters will be more focused and topic oriented so that attendees can learn valuable information from Master Level Strength Coaches in the Exhibit Hall. In addition, several of our exhibitors have expressed wanting to have competitions in their booths for our coaches to potentially win product and swag, so stay tuned!
As you know, we are always asking for feedback on ways to make the CSCCa better. This organization has always been and will always be about its membership. To move this organization forward and truly help it reach its potential, we need everyone’s help. We have the most talented membership in the country. We are inviting you all to share in the navigation of the direction of the CSCCa by helping contribute to our research, articles, interviews, committees and various projects throughout the year.
Please pay attention to emails and social media in the next few months as we will be asking for your participation in various activities. Your participation and communication are critical in the enhancement of the most talented membership in the collegiate ranks.
We hope everyone continues to have a great semester, and a fantastic holiday.
